Frasier
1993"Frasier" is a spin-off of American sitcom "Cheers". It sees Kelsey Grammer reprising the role of psychiatrist Dr Frasier Crane as his character leaves behind a failed marriage in Boston to return to his hometown of Seattle. His plans for a fresh start in a bachelor pad are frustrated when he is forced to take in his father, Martin (John Mahoney), a retired police officer. Martin's dog, Eddie, and his new live-in physical therapist, Daphne (Jane Leeves), swell the numbers in the apartment. Frasier's younger brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce), a fellow psychiatrist, frequently visits the apartment. His infatuation with Daphne is a long-running storyline that spans the entire series. Frasier hosts The Dr Frasier Crane Show on talk radio station KACL. His producer, Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), becomes a close family friend. While Frasier and Niles have high opinions of themselves and share the same intellectual pursuits, Martin is down-to-earth and his tastes are simple. Martin prefers beer to wine or spirits, and action movies and sports to the opera and theatre favoured by Frasier and Niles. As a result of the differences, Martin has a fraught relationship with both his sons. The hugely popular sitcom premiered in 1993 and ran for 11 seasons, clocking up 264 episodes. It won 37 Emmy Awards, with Grammer and Pierce each winning four.
