"The Good Wife" is an American drama starring Julianna Margulies in the title role as Alicia Florrick, a wife and mother who boldly assumes full responsibility for her family and re-enters the workforce after her husband's very public sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail. She returns to her original career as a defence attorney when she takes up a position as a junior associate at a prestigious Chicago law firm, where she joins her long-time friend and firm partner Will Gardner (Josh Charles). She finds herself at the bottom of the career ladder, trying to juggle work with bringing up her two children, Zach (Graham Phillips) and Grace (Makenzie Vega), and the fallout from the ongoing scandal surrounding her husband, Peter (Chris Noth). She faces tough competition at work from eager young recruits, but finds an ally in Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi), the firm's tough in-house investigator. As Alicia gains in confidence, she transforms herself from embarrassed politician's scorned wife to resilient career woman. Margulies won a Golden Globe in 2009 and an Emmy in 2011 for her role on the show, while Archie Panjabi was awarded a supporting actress Emmy in 2010. It premiered on Channel 4 in 2010.
