"Cheers" is an American sitcom set in a Boston bar called Cheers where a group of regulars meet to drink and chat. Sam Malone (Ted Danson) takes centre stage as the personable bartender with an eye for the ladies. He seduces a number of women but fails to achieve a meaningful relationship with any of them. He has an on-off dalliance with kooky Cheers waitress Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) and a love-hate relationship with Cheers manager Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley). Sam is joined behind the bar by slow and forgetful Coach (Nicholas Colasanto), mean-spirited Carla Tortelli (Rhea Perlman) and naive Woody Boyd (Woody Harrelson), and the regulars include barfly Norm Peterson (George Wendt), know-it-all Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) and pompous psychiatrist Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammar). The hugely popular series premiered in 1982 and ran for 11 seasons, clocking up 275 episodes. Kelsey Grammar went on to reprise his role in the equally successful "Frasier".
