Caroline Flack announced this morning that she would be stepping down as host of 'Love Island' following her assault charge last Friday.
The presenter was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning and later charged with assault by beating. Flack is bailed to appear before Highbury Corner magistrates on December 23.
In a statement she posted on Instagram, 40-year-old Flack said, "Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it's the best show on telly.
"In order not to detract from the attention of the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is stand down for Series 6.
"I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town."
Flack was set to host the very first winter edition of 'Love Island' which will kick off on January 8th. Now the rumour mill is rife over who might replace her.
There was talk of it being Maura Higgins following a rather cryptic post she put up on Instagram recently, but that's not looking very likely now and her odds have fallen in the bookies. However, it's still looking very likely it will be an Irish lady.
"Maura Higgins was the lead contender before Caroline Flack’s announcement, but that money has dried up in the last couple of hours with Curtis Pritchard insisting that it’s not going to happen", said Lawrence Lyons of BoyleSports.
"As a result we have to make Laura Whitmore the new frontrunner and with links to the show already she looks well-positioned to land the gig."
Laura Whitmore at Electric Picnic.Bray native Laura Whitmore is currently at 11/8 odds but MTV and Channel 4 presenter Maya Jama is also up there while US 'Love Island' host Arielle Vandenberg follows at 3/1.
Gemma Collins is at 50/1 which is very unlikely but would be gas all the same.
