There was so much news about True Detective there for a while, you'd be forgiven for thinking this whole casting palaver had been wrapped up by now. We know that our own Colin Farrell has managed to scoop one of the leads, alongside funnyman Vince Vaughn, and we were pretty sure that Rachel McAdams had locked things down, although nobody has officially confirmed that yet.

Now there's another name in the mix, as it's reported that Taylor Kitsch will star alongside Vaughn and Farrell. The Friday Night Lights star is set to play a character call Paul Woodrugh according to his IMDB profile and while HBO has not confirmed anything, the actor hinted to Adweek that he was preparing for the role.

He said; "Yeah, I’m really excited. I’ve just been prepping. It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue. You've just got to grind it out"

"Even taking this year off was, I mean, you want to work, but you also don't want to just water it down and work for the sake of working. So, it was tough to sit a year out, keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get True [Detective]."

He added: "I loved that first season of it so much. And it was so grounded. It could really happen. This is very similar, and I love that."

So yeah, he's clearly got the gig... right??

Quit messing with us HBO and just confirm the full cast already.
