Sky have released a new teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated 'Game of Thrones' successor 'House of the Dragon'.

Fans of the original show and books have been waiting for the upcoming series to arrive for years now. The release of the new teaser hits home that it's just around the corner. The show will finally air on August 22 on Sky Atlantic.

In the trailer, we see the iconic Iron Throne which fell in the final season of 'Game of Thrones'. Here though, 200 years before those events, it's looking as sharp and uncomfortable as ever. We see King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) sitting atop the throne, with the various houses swearing allegiance to him and his heir Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D'arcy).

We also get a good look at the king's brother Daemon (Matt Smith) carrying a dragon egg and coming across a fully grown dragon at the very end of the video.

The show also stars Rhys Ifans (Ser Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King), Olivia Cooke (Lady Alicent Hightower, Otto’s daughter), Fabien Frankel (Ser Criston Cole), Steve Toussaint (Lord Corlys Velaryon a.k.a. The Sea Snake), Eve Best (Princess Rhaenys Velaryon) and Sonoya Mizuno (Mysaria, confidante to Daemon Targaryen).

'House of the Dragon' is based on 'Thrones' author George R. R. Martin's 'Fire and Blood'. Miguel Sapochnik will act as showrunner for the series and direct multiple episodes. Sapochnik is well known for directing some of the best-regarded episodes of 'Thrones', including 'The Battle of the Bastards' and 'Hardhome'.

The show will air just two weeks before Prime TV's 'Lord of the Rings' series 'The Rings of Power', which will see the two big-budget fantasy heavyweights battle it out for viewers attention in late summer.
