As far as cameos go on 'Game of Thrones', one of the most jarring and painfully obvious was Ed Sheeran's appearance as a singing Lannister soldier.

However you might feel about Ed Sheeran's bland and radically commercial variety of acoustic pop-rock, there's no denying that seeing him appear - out of nowhere - in the middle of Westeros was just offputting and weird. Christ, Sigur Ros were able to hide themelves in the background and blend in, and you probably didn't even know that Rob McElhenney was in last night's episode either.

Anyway, as some people have clocked on Twitter, it looks like the fate of Ed Sheeran's singing soldier has been confirmed. In the scene where Bronn is about to have himself a foursome in one of the many brothels in King's Landing, the two ladies not... uh... on Bronn talk about a soldier who was severely burnt at the wagon train attack from last season.

Specifically, a ginger soldier called - you guessed it - "Eddie". As if to underline the point, Ed Sheeran actually posted about the scene on his own Instagram, saying "Thanks @gameofthrones, I knew I was a survivor."

So, there you have it - in Westeros, Ed Sheeran is now suffering from severe facial injuries, has no eyelids and managed to survive dragon fire. Isn't there a thing about redheads in Westeros being "kissed by fire"? In this case, the kiss was literal and it burned poor Eddie's face off.
