Considering how there's been a generation of people who grew up with the notion that vampires sparkle and looking like they should be on the cover of Non-Threatening Boys Magazine, this BBC miniseries couldn't have come at a better time.
'Dracula' looks like it's taking the blood-sucking landowner back to his horror roots, and even appears to be channeling a little bit of Christopher Lee in Claes Bang's performance and costume. The cape and hair combo, for example, definitely evokes Hammer Horror-era Dracula, not to mention the pale white makeup in some of the jump cuts as well.
You've also got a legion of stake-wielding nuns in there, some bugs flying around people's eyes, what appears to be Renfield at one point, and of course, mentioning how fiendishly alluring Dracula really is. All in all, it's looking like the perfect romp and exactly the kind of post-Christmas cleanser you'll need.
'Dracula' airs on BBC One on January 1st, 2020 and airs for three nights and then goes straight to Netflix on January 4th.
