With all of the buzz surrounding the gallant return of the ever-peppy football coach, it's no wonder he's come out on top - for once.

Jason Sudeikis' 'Ted Lasso' has been deemed the most successful Apple TV+ premiere ever following its season two debut.

The return of the sports/workplace comedy has earned itself the top spot on the streaming service, all thanks to Jason Sudeikis and his wonderful co-stars. While no concrete figures were released, Apple claim that when July 23 came around, the title was number one across all series and movies on site.

The opening weekend of the series also saw Apple TV+'s audience grow by a record-breaking 50%, and viewership of the series was six times higher than the first series' premiere weekend back in August 2020.

The impressive launch could have been helped by Apple TV+'s partnership with Sony, which relaunched this weekend too. As part of the PS5 deal, gamers can claim a six month free trail of the streaming service by using their gaming console.

The return of the Jason Sudeikis comedy also saw a number of other new releases on Apple TV+ get boosts in viewership, including 'Schmigadoon' with Keegan-Michael Key, 'Physical' with Rose Byrne and 'Mythic Quest' starring Rob McElhenney.

The 'Ted Lasso' successful streak is not stopping anytime soon, with the series currently up for 20 Emmy Awards ahead of this September's ceremony. Earlier this year Sudeikis earned himself a Best Actor in a Comedy Series award for his role as the inspirational coach.

The series has already been greenlit for a third season.
