'Late Late Show' host Ryan Tubridy is holding out for a potential last-minute appearance of Dalkey's own Hollywood's Matt Damon popping in for a chat this Friday night.

In the past couple of weeks, Ireland has been reeling in the fact that one of the biggest names in Hollywood is passing away his self-isolation time in our very own island. First spotted out taking pictures with the locals while out for a stroll, just last week he was again caught out in Dalkey sporting a Supervalu shopping bag while going for a dip. Supervalu sales must be going through the roof these days. And Matt Damon on 'Late Late Show' might be just around the corner - if he takes the bait.

Now, after local residents back up their new blow in against the 'New York Times', the lifestyle of Matt hasn't gone unnoticed by a single person across the country, and Ryan Tubridy has his eyes firmly set on getting the new Dalkey native in for a chat. Matt Damon on 'Late Late Show' would be just the dose we've been looking for on our TVs these days.

The 'Late Late Show' host made the comments after listeners of his RTE Radio 1 began to enquire about this week's line-up of guests. Could we see the new owner of a Supervalu shopping bag live on Irish TV this weekend? Not yet, anyway.

Deciding that Matt Damon might have better things to be doing than appearing on the longest-running chat show in history, the host said: "We'll keep a chair warm for him in the event that he wants to show up. He'll always be welcome."

Let's see if Matt Damon gets wind of the bait laid by the 'Late Late Show' presenter when the show returns to our screens this Friday night.
