In a spate of tweets sent earlier today, the Twitter account for Channel 4 has called 'Good Morning Britain' host Piers Morgan a massive bellend, the second biggest wanker in the history of human civilisation, and told him to go f*ck himself.
No, the Channel 4 account was not hacked or hijacked. No, Channel 4 as an entity did not decide to suddenly put Piers Morgan on blast and let him know exactly what they (and a lot of people) think. The real reason for the abuse was, believe it or not, because people had donated money to see it happen.
Ok, Twitter. Today we’re gonna raise some serious cash for @StandUp2C. Below is a donation menu: the more you give, the better the reward. Using #SU2CRewards, tell us what you donated and the reward you want. Oh and guys, this is for cancer…don’t be a dick and lie about donating pic.twitter.com/KpBHEiMP4Z

As part of Channel 4's 'Stand Up 2 Cancer' campaign, the television station was offering unique rewards to anyone who donated a certain amount of money in a certain space of time. For example, donating ten or twenty pounds would see the Channel 4 Twitter account ask out your crush for you or ask your boss for a raise. For fifty pounds, the Channel 4 account would draw you a cartoon avatar, throw Twitter shade at a TV rival of your choosing, or specifically insult Piers Morgan.
Needless to say, some people shelled out a lot of money for the Piers Morgan option, as the insults have been coming thick and fast from the account.
Here's a selection so far.
Dear @PiersMorgan. Unfortunately our lawyers wouldn't allow us to say you're the single biggest wanker in the history of human civilisation. But you're in the top 1. #SU2CRewards

Dear @PiersMorgan. Hope you're having a wonderful morning. Why don’t you go and f**k yourself. #SU2CRewards,

Dear @PiersMorgan. The only thing that Brexit Leavers and Remainers agree on is that you’re a massive bellend. #SU2CRewards,

For his part, Piers Morgan is taking the whole thing in his stride and doesn't mind that people are paying money / donating money to see him insulted by a television station.
Maybe he just gets off on that kind of attention? Who knows. It's still pretty fascinating to see how far they're taking the whole thing, and it's all for a good cause too.
I learned everything about massive bellendery from @jonsnowC4. https://t.co/Tz1VKrEC1e
