'It Chapter 2' hits cinemas later this year. For movie fans, it's one of their most highly anticipated films of the year.

'It Chapter 2' takes place 27 years after 2017's 'It'. The movie will see the 'Loser Club' return to their roots of Derry and confront that horrifying being that haunted their childhood - Pennywise the Clown.

A stellar cast joins the sequel including James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader. Bill Skarsgard returns as Pennywise and the kid actors from the first movie are back too.

Also returning is Andy Muschietti to the director's seat. The 'Mama' helmer recently confirmed the running length of 'It Chapter 2'.

Safe to say, it's going to be a loooong night.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Muschietti revealed the running length of the horror will be 2 hours and 45 minutes.

According to the director, it was even longer originally.

"At the beginning, when you're writing and building the beats of the story, everything that you put in there seems very essential to the story," said Muschietti. "However, when you have the movie finally edited and it's 4 hours long, you realise that some of the events and some of the beats can be easily lifted but the essence of the story remains intact.

"You cannot deliver a 4-hour movie because people will start to feel uncomfortable – no matter what they see – but we ended up having a movie that is 2 hours and 45 minutes, and the pacing is very good.

"Nobody who's seen the movie has had any complaint."

Producer Barbara Muschietti meanwhile promised there will be a director's cut too. She said they "have some amazing scenes that didn't make it into the movie."

As for whether anything was cut for being too scary, Andy answered: "Oh, no. Everything that is too scary is in the movie."

Another extended horror fans are looking forward to seeing is Ari Aster's cut of 'Midsommar'. The film is currently 140 minutes in length. Aster has said he plans to release a director's cut with 30 additional minutes, bringing the running time to almost 3 hours.

Here's everything we know about 'It Chapter 2' so far.

It hits cinemas September 6th, 2019.
