Blake Morrison's shocking psychological study of male jealousy is brought to the screen by Mick Ford, (Single Father, Ashes To Ashes). Two couples with a long shared history embark on a bank holiday weekend in the Suffolk countryside. Working class Ian Goade, met upper class, smart and sporty Ollie Moreton at university. The trip is supposedly a chance to relax and spend time together, as during their normal lives the couples inhabit vastly different worlds. As stifling weather intensifies the ominous atmosphere of sexual tensions (can you guess where this is going?) and male rivalry begin to dominate.
