We wouldn't be the first ones to say that television this last decade has really upped its game, so much so that even the biggest A-lister is now banging down the door to get parts in these stellar new shows. Often the creative minds behind them sit back from the limelight, probably because they are so busy writing them all in the first place, but every so often they come out to tell us just what exactly it takes to bring our favourite shows to life.

One such occasion was the Hollywood Reporter's annual Drama Showrunner Roundtable where six of the best writers in Hollywood sat down together to talk anything from job pressures, embarrassing sex scenes and even provide a few hints from what we can expect from them in future shows.

The six writers are Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad), Aaron Sorkin (The Newsroom), Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective), Matthew Weiner (Mad Men), Ann Biderman (Ray Donovan) and Carloton Cuse (Bates Motel).
