Social media's favourite libel case is soon coming to our screens under dramatic circumstances. Yes, we're getting a 'Wagatha' TV show.

According to Deadline, the "2-hour drama" will be a "dramatic reconstruction of the viral court case involving Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, the wives of high-profile British footballers."

Written by Chris Atkins, 'Wagatha' charts the High Court case which stemmed from alleged leaked Instagram stories in 2019 and opposes Rooney and Vardy. Newen Connect will distribute.

'Wagatha' stars Chanel Cresswell, the BAFTA-winning actor of 'This is England'. Natalia Tena ('Game of Thrones') and Martin Sheen also star. Filming wrapped last month.

The case was first brought to attention in 2019 when Coleen, wife of retired England footballer Wayne Rooney, accused Rebekah, wife of Leicester City's Jamie Vardy, of leaking posts from her private Instagram account to the Sun newspaper.

The accusations then escalated to a court case when Vardy sued Rooney for libel. In July of this year, the court dismissed Vardy's claim on the basis that Rooney's statements were substantially true.

This week, Vardy was ordered by the High Court to pay Rooney £1.5 million in legal fees.

WAGs are certainly a hot topic as of late. Only a few months ago, Netflix approached some wives and girlfriends of football stars about a reality series.

The show would follow the lives of some of the footballers counterparts over November and December this year while England take part in the World Cup.
