TV3 are really upping their game to compete with the arrival of UTV Ireland next year. The latter may have taken the likes of Corrie and Emmerdale off their hands, but TV3 ain't going down without a fight. In fact they aren't going down at all as they have recently announced a whole host of new shows that will be coming to the schedule, including another Irish soap opera, and now, just announced today, a new Primetime evening show. Miriam O'Callaghan will be only ragin' too (genuinely).

TV3 have said in a statement; "A new Primetime early evening show will air weeknights from January and add over 127 hours of Irish home produced content to the stations 2015 schedule. The new nightly show represents a major commitment by TV3 to cover people and items of interest happening all over Ireland. A new anchor host has yet to be announced but this unique show will comprise of some of TV3’s finest reporters, all of whom will report on stories and exciting events from around the country."

A new anchor hasn't been chosen 'ey? Could Mr Pat Kenny possibly be on the lookout for a TV nixer? We'd put good money on it, he does what he wants, that Kenny fella.

TV3 also announced they are axing Midweek to make room for the new show as well as fyi, which will be replaced with 60 second news bulletins throughout the day and will be called The Thread.

So there you go, your move UTV Ireland...
