Without a doubt, 'The Boys' has been one of Amazon Prime's most buzzy / talked-about show since the streaming service launched.

What's kept it in people's minds, believe it or not, has been some pretty strong word-of-mouth and a willingness to not just take the ever-living p*** out of itself, but also the entire genre of comic-book superheroes in general.

In fact, there's a good argument to be made that both 'The Boys' and HBO's excellent 'Watchmen' have come about and hit so well because people are fed up with the same old superhero schtick. Maybe the success of 'Deadpool' and the fact that comic-book superheroes have gone well past saturation point. Who knows?

What we do know is that there's a huge amount of hype around 'The Boys', and the new teaser for it keeps it going with very little in the plot department but a whole mess of stuff in the ridiculous, gory, over-the-top action department. That's our favourite department, to be honest.

Karl Urban is back as Billy Butcher, the psychologically-damaged FBI agent who's murdering superheroes however he can because he knows what they're capable of. Antony Starr is back as Homelander, the equally psychologically-damaged murdering superhero, and Jack Quaid's in there as the hapless mortal caught between it all.

The second season of 'The Boys' is expected to hit Amazon Prime during the summer of 2020. For now, here's the teaser.
