Two days on, we're still none the wiser as to why Sherif Lanre was booted off 'Love Island'.

Producers said only that the Londoner had 'broken the rules' and that it had been 'mutually agreed' that he would leave the show - so naturally, there are tons of rumours flying around.

Now, having been spotted returning to his mum's place in London yesterday, the man himself took to his Instagram stories to reassure fans that he was 'all good' - yet, infuriatingly, he failed to elaborate on the situation.

"Thank you to everyone including my friends and family for the support I’ve come back to," he wrote. "I appreciate you all and hope I provided some good, positive moments during my time on Love Island, and for anyone wondering, I’m all good. #ItIsWhatItIs #BiggerThingsToCome"

Following (unsubstantiated) rumours on social media that he had been caught with a phone, The Sun reported that the reason for his exit is being kept under wraps "to avoid another scandal". Allegedly, producers are worried about the show being axed altogether after the recent Jeremy Kyle incident - which suggests that there was a more serious reason.

They also quote a source as saying that the 20-year-old refused to fully engage with the process during his nine days in the villa.

"He’s been refusing to get up and take part in chats with the others and said he didn’t like any of them," they said. “When producers told Islanders they have to get ready to film a challenge, Sherif was deliberately spending ages in the shower. He said he couldn’t be bothered.”

We may never know the full story... but life continues inside the villa at 9pm tonight.
