Two days on from her quick departure from camp, we still don't have a full explanation as to why the 'Love Island' star left so suddenly.

Olivia Attwood was swiftly taken out of the 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' camp just 24 hours after beginning her time on the show - but there's still been no full explanation as to what the reason was for her sudden departure.

Attwood was one of the four celebrities who camped out on a remote island during the first night of their 'I'm A Celeb' experience, before taking part in the series' first Bushtucker trial alongside Chris Moyles, Scarlette Douglas and Boy George. After winning eight stars and joining camp for the first time, however, the TV personality quietly left the show.

Initially, ITV said in a statement that she had to be removed as a precautionary measure due to "medical checks". It was then rumoured that Attwood had caught Covid, which would mean she would have had to quarantine for a week away from her campmates, setting her at a distinct advantage in the competition, should she then re-enter at a later date (but people enter in late into the competition all of the time!?).

Then, mysteriously, a friend of the 31-year-old told MailOnline: "It was unrelated to Covid. Olivia will talk about it herself when she’s ready but right now she’s just focused on getting back home."

If it was a Covid-related illness, she also wouldn't have been allowed to fly home to the UK that very same day.

Then, former 'I'm A Celebrity' contestant and second runner-up of the 2020 edition of the show, Vernon Kay, threw his own speculation out into the internet. He suggested that Attwood became ill from the prawns she ate with Chris Moyles before her departure.

Another friend of Olivia Attwood said her departure from 'I'm A Celebrity' "had nothing to do with her ADHD or anxiety" and that "she was perfectly fine".

They said to The Mirror: "Olivia was very keen to continue and was gutted when she was told that having left camp for tests she was not going back. Her 'I'm A Celebrity journey' was only just beginning and she is devastated."

The most recent episode of 'I'm A Celebrity' aired on ITV and Virgin Media One last night, but did not reference Attwood's departure. Her exit from the series was briefly mentioned at the beginning of Monday night's episode, but the topic wasn't explored further by hosts Ant and Dec. They said: "Unfortunately Olivia has left the jungle for medical reasons. She does feature on tonight's show but we’re very sad to see her go but we wish her well."

A statement published on the star's Instagram account on Monday read that viewers will "hear the truth in due course".

It's all very mysterious indeed. Tonight's 'I'm A Celebrity' will see new contestants Matt Hancock and Seann Walsh enter the camp by completing their first Bushtucker trial, named 'Beastly Burrow'. Let's see how this turns out...

'I'm A Celebrity' continues tonight on Virgin Media One at 9 pm.
