We haven't even had the chance to catch up with Martin Moone since Series 1 ended, but we'll be seeing plenty more of the young bucko from Boyle, because Sky have only gone and commissioned a THIRD series of Moone Boy already.

Series 2 got the green light in June 2012, before the show had even premiered, and now it seems Series 3 is getting the exact same treatment. Chris O'Dowd has most likely produced an equally hilarious second string of episodes, because word is he'll even be directing part of the third run.

We are HUGE fans of Moone Boy here in the office. Sure didn't our Sheena even fall in love with it last year? Sky's Head of Comedy Lucy Lumsden clearly enjoys it too, because she's quite happy to keep pushing it out.

"Since launching Sky's push into comedy in 2010 across our four entertainment channels, the genre has flourished under our investment establishing Sky firmly within the television comedy landscape. The outstanding talent at the heart of these series demonstrates the range and ambition of our output and our continued commitment to the genre," she said.

It marks a very good end to the week for O'Dowd, who's been rather busy launching a new US comedy series, and telling us all about his little appearance in Thor: The Dark World. Love him or loathe him, you've got to admit, the boy's certainly put Roscommon on the map!
