Just a couple of months after Holly Willoughby backed away from the show, Mel B has now quit 'Celebrity Juice' as team captain.
In a statement given to media yesterday, the producers of the show said that "Mel has been a brilliant team captain and we'd like to thank her for all the laughs. We have no doubt she'll be back to banter with Keith as a guest on the show in the near future."
The statement also said that the show would be back in the autumn with two new captains, but stopped short of naming names. So far, names suggested include 'Inbetweeners' star Emily Atack, who's been a regular guest on the show for the past few seasons. The show's host, Leigh Francis (that's his real name), recently spoke about the search for team captains, but also added that the show's future is uncertain.
Speaking to Hello Magazine last month, Francis said that he's "probably supposed to say it's meant to come back, lead with positive words but we've got to get it right." Just recently, Francis apologised over blackface sketches made during the run of 'Bo Selecta' on Channel 4, including Trisha Goddard, Craig David and Mel B.
Francis, however, is keen to keep the show going, which has been on air for 23 seasons since 2008.
