'Love Island' contestant Greg O'Shea took a break from the show that no one knew about. He secretly left the villa yesterday to attend the funeral of his beloved grandma in Ireland.
Greg was flown from the reality series to the service in Dublin on Monday. He then returned immediately to Majorca.
His father Niall O'Shea told Limerick Live 95 (via The Sun):
"Greg is a very good family man and his mother wanted to make sure he was there because himself and his Nan got on well."
The family praised the producers for allowing their son to come home for the service and for facilitating the journey.
In a statement they revealed that Greg's granny, Monica Ho, from Raheen, Limerick, "passed away peacefully on 19th July 2019, in the care of Talbot Lodge Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family".
The 24-year-old has proven popular since joining the show mid-series. He is currently coupled up with Amber. She chose the rugby player over ex Michael in the re-coupling over the weekend.
It's likely that no reference will be made to his grandmother's passing on the show.
