This year's return of the usual hotties of the ITV reality show will be entering a brand new location it seems.

The 'Love Island' villa as we know it is no more. According to recent reports, ITV is looking for a fresh new location for this year's summer edition.

ITV2 bosses are apparently on the hunt for a new property in Mallorca to film this year's series. The current villa, situated in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, has been housing the reality show contestants since 2017 (with the exception of the winter 2020 series, which was based in South Africa).

According to The Sun, producers on the series are looking to move to a more picturesque environment, hoping to discover a large mansion either near the foothills of mountains, by a lake or closer to the coastline. However, die-hard fans of the series shouldn't be too concerned, as the new location will still include favourites such as a swimming pool, Casa Amor, and the dreaded fire pit of recoupling (and elimination).

A source told the publication that producers are hoping a new location will breathe new life into the series: "ITV bosses think this is the right moment to refresh this element of the show, just as they did in series three back in 2017. Now they’re considering a range of options, but want to stay on the island which has provided the perfect sunny backdrop for the show.

"Bosses are conscious of the fact that this is also an opportunity to consider all the new elements they could introduce to enhance the show even further. For fans of 'Love Island' this is huge news and they’ll be eager to see what the new villa looks like and how much it could change the show."

And so, interest is already mounting for season eight of the reality show. The casting process has reportedly already begun, with the usual June premiere date expected later this year.

Liberty Poole, who famously exited last year's edition following her break-up with Jake Cornish, is currently on another ITV reality show, 'Dancing On Ice'.
