Fox executives are apparently very excited about the Lethal Weapon pilot that they believe will become a successful series on their network.
They described the series as “muscular,” “high-octane” and “very broadly appealing, when in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. The pilot was directed by McG (Charlie's Angels, Terminator Salvation) and written by Miles Miller. Clayne Crawford plays "crazy motherf**ker" Martin Riggs, while Damon Wayans is waaaay too old for this sh*t as Roger Murtaugh. Jordana Brewster also appears.
Shane Black's original script was very dark for a mainstream action movie at the time, and he actually wanted to kill off Riggs in Lethal Weapon 2, with a disagreement with the studio leading to his departure from the project.
We have no idea how this will go and we love the original film - the last one wasn't great, mind.
Fox have planted it right over their ratings juggernaut Empire, so obviously believe in it immensely.
