That 'Dexter' season nine/revival series is picking up steam these days with the announcement of some of the serial killer's ghosts returning to haunt him (we presume).
According to The Holywood Reporter, Jennifer Carpenter has signed up for an appearance in the 'Dexter' revival.
Carpenter played the role of Dexter's sister Debra during the eight-season run of the crime/thriller. When we first meet her character in the series, she was an extremely capable police lieutenant but during the eighth season, she went into a downward spiral, culminating in her being shot and left for dead. Dexter ends up pulling the plug on her life support machine during a season finale that has gone down by fans as one of the worst endings to a series.
In what capacity Debra will return in the 'Dexter' revival is still unknown, but the actor who played her remained open to returning to the character in the future. Speaking to THR , she had said: "[It would take] an extraordinary script many, many, many years from now. I don’t know if that’s possible because people don’t come back from the dead."
Jennifer Carpenter isn't the only ghost from Dexter's past that is to return either. John Lithgow has been confirmed to be making a return for a scene with Michael C. Hall's Dexter. Lithgow played The Trinity Killer during season four, and is often regarded as a fan favourite; he even won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his performance as Arthur Mitchell.
Showtime’s 10-episode 'Dexter' revival is set 10 years after the events of season eight and will see the serial killer living out a quieter life in Upstate New York. The series is due for release later this year.
