For those of you that may not know, comedian Russel Brand was a drug addict up to ten years ago. And we're talking the big stuff here - heroin and everything else he could get his hands on. After he was told he pretty much would be dead in six months if he didn't stop, he managed to get his act together and hasn't touched even so much as a drop of alcohol since. He decided to do this documentary after the death of his good friend Amy Winehouse, to find a way to get people to look at drug addiction less as a criminal issue, and more as a health one. He recounts his own story, as well as meeting scientists researching the psychological aspects of addiction, and interviews addicts taking the first steps toward rehabilitation. Whatever your opinion of Brand is, his innate intelligence and drive come through big time in this, and you really can't help but admire him by the end of it.
