Behold the reason why Hugh was in the press last week rabbitting on about eating puppy flesh is the same as eating any other kind of meat, or something equally as headline grabbing. He's got a new series - all about veg, hence why he's been ingratiating himself to vegetarians everywhere. Fearnley-Whittingstall has spent the summer living on a vegetarian diet, and kindly shows viewers how to create varied and exciting meals without using meat or fish. He begins by exploring the range of vegetables growing in his own garden at River Cottage, before sampling Asian-inspired recipes created by vegetarian chef David Bailey and taking on the challenge of hosting a meat-free barbecue, with dishes including halloumi, tomato and potato kebabs and chard and samphire tarts.
