At some stage - maybe in the next couple of years - somebody needs to see about making a documentary about what went wrong at Fyre Festival, because the latest story is a brilliant third act twist.

The New York Times has reported that Fyre Media, the company behind the botched luxury music festival for social media influencers and high-flying, status-chasing millenials, is now under FBI investigation for "possible mail, wire and securities fraud." As previously reported, there's six class-action lawsuits pending against Fyre Festival and its owners, Billy McFarland Ja Rule, and the money has run out to pay staff.

Now, with an FBI investigation bearing down on top of them, things are going from bad to much, much worse.

According to the New York Times, the United States attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York and the FBI are investigating, with a laundry list of aggrieved customers, debtors, musicians and businesses who are very likely eager to testify against McFarland and Ja Rule. Blink-182 are reportedly waiting for equipment to returned to them that's currently stuck in customs limbo. Caterers on Exumas are out huge sums of money, and staff haven't been paid.

For his part, McFarland says that he "cannot emphasize enough how sorry" he is. "I’m committed to, and working actively to, find a way to make this right, not just for investors but for those who planned to attend," said McFarland in a statement.
