So, we've all read Mel's response to Joe Eszterhas's letter, haven't we, but what (allegedly) motivated Joe to write said letter, from April 9th, in the first place?
Well, according to CNN, Joe alleges that Mel "frequently spews 'looney, rancid anti-Semitism, has talked about killing his former girlfriend, and is prone to hate-filled diatribes slamming everyone from John Lennon to Walter Cronkite."
In his letter, Eszterhas wrote: "I've come to the conclusion that the reason you won't make The Maccabees is the ugliest possible one. You hate Jews. You continually called Jews 'Hebes' and 'oven-dodgers' and 'Jewboys.' It seemed that most times when we discussed someone, you asked 'He's a Hebe, isn't he?' You said most 'gatekeepers' of American companies were 'Hebes' who 'controlled their bosses."
Eszterhas said Gibson had told him the Holocaust was "mostly a lot of horseshit" and that his intention in making The Maccabees was "to convert the Jews to Christianity". Eszterhas add-ed: "You said the Torah made reference to the sacrifice of Christian babies and infants. When I told you that you were confusing the Torah with The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, ... you insisted 'it's in the Torah - it's in there!' (It isn't)… I believe you announced the project with great fanfare - 'a Jewish Braveheart' - in an attempt to deflect continuing charges of anti-Semitism which have dogged you, charges which have crippled your career."
Then Eszterhas hit Mel where it really hurt. The ex…
"You were raving at Oksana even after you'd reached a custody agreement over Luci (their daughter)… And then you were even more explicit about your threat: 'I'm going to kill her! I'm going to have her killed!' You said you'd become friends with two FBI agents (or former FBI agents) and they were going to help you to kill her."
Grigorieva's spokesman (yes, she still has one) told CNN yesterday that if the Eszterhas "is accurate and credible, the allegations are extremely serious and must be investigated immediately by the authorities… But it will be up to the authorities and Ms. Grigorieva's attorneys to react to this revelation."
Hardly a revelation. Have you not heard your employer's tape collection?
