Lindsay Lohan sat down with Vogue recently to go through some of the most memorable looks from her onscreen eras and it's the kind of nostalgia we need in our lives right now.
The video with Vogue is bringing us right back to 2003, when we all wondered if we could pull off an inside-out shirt á la Anna in 'Freaky Friday' and the main question on everyone's lips was "Mam, can I piece my navel?".
Lindsay Lohan goes through that immortal era with Vogue in 'Life in Looks' and a whole load of her other on set wardrobes and affirming, "I was always really into fashion". No army pants and flip-flops for Ms Lohan, thank you very much.
The Parent Trap Premiere, 1988
Lohan even remembers going shopping with her mom for this outfit and wanting to serve that British elegance that her character Annie embodied.
"When I was doing 'The Parent Trap' I wanted to be more like Annie" Lohan explains, "because she was more preppy and reserved and just, she just had a classier twist that I loved".
"Hally was too American for me", she remarks, even though in the next sentence she's talking about her favourite outfit as a child — a dress with puffy sleeves and pink leather cowboy boots.
The 'Freaky Friday' Era, 2003
The chunky, white-blonde highlights. The skinny scarves. The juicy trackies. The eyeliner. The chipped nail polish. We'll never forget this Lohan era, and neither can she, she begins "I don't even wanna, like,—" and erupts into bashful giggles over the ensemble.
"I was really just rocking the Avril Lavigne vibe," she goes on. But, it's forgivable, all of us tried to rock the casual tie over a long sleeve tee at one stage or another, right?
Lohan continues to cringe over the tracksuit, flip-flops, and skinny scarf combo but, in her Vogue sit-down, the look isn't on a red carpet and she confesses that she is really thankful for that. However, we've found the exact look actually on the red carpet. But it's fine, Lindsay, it's Y2K perfection.
'Mean Girls', 2004
"Why am I wearing this dress?" she groans, conceding that the team wanted this character to be too much — hair, makeup, dress, and all. The inspiration for the hair may shock you to your core. Drumroll. It's Jennifer Anniston.
She appreciated the duality of the character 'Cady' who got to go between hyper girly-girl to more chilled out, 'Mathletes' jacket and sneakers, "everyone was jealous".
'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen', 2004
For this Lohan era, it was all about dressing like Britney Spears. A bit more of a sugary, theatrical Britney Spears, but a Britney Spears nonetheless. We think she's pulling it off for the most part, but, as Lohan admits, it's a little more Halloween than pop queen nowadays.
The video drops some interesting goss too, like the fact that Lohan and Raven-Symoné were actually renting a place together?! She talks about how she used to hate her freckles when she was young, how working on set with Jamie Lee Curtis was the best time she's ever had, and that one time Megan Fox helped her bleach her hair. Wild.
