Apologies in advance, have to let this out first - WHOOO HOOO!

After cutting his teeth on pirate radio in Mayo (complete with garden shed and phone box phone ins), to winning not one but two PPI Breakfast Show of The Year Awards while presenting the Red Rooster on Cork's RED FM alongside his rather attractive co-pilot Lenny (I'm carrying his baby, don't tell anyone), and countless PPI Broadcaster of the Year gongs, the lovely Keith Cunningham has landed Ray Foley's soon-to-be-departed lunchtime slot (he's off to host 98FM's Breakfast Show, in case you've been residing under a rock).

Of today's announcement, KC said: "I am just blown away I will have a lunchtime show on the biggest national independent station in the country. I was so excited and can’t wait to get stuck in and bring my own stamp to lunchtimes. I’d like to thank Ray & JP for the opportunity their departure has presented and wish them the very best of luck in their new venture. I’ll do you proud guys."

In case it wasn't already made abundantly clear, radio is in KC’s blood. He started his career with garden shed pirate giant Kiss FM back in 1994. He studied broadcasting and journalism in Dublin for two years before returning to Castlebar to launch Mayo’s first 24-hour pirate station, Power FM. In 2000, KC began at MWR FM and subsequently moved to Galway Bay FM, where at 21, he was the youngest full time breakfast show host on Irish radio. In 2000 KC hosted the FM104 week-end breakfast show until his move to Red FM in Cork.

To quote TODAY FM's Facebook page - "Roll on November" when Mr. Cunningham, along with Lenny and Adelle Mac (who, after working with Foley and JP for years, has the ample experience required to keep two mad yokes in check), will be brightening up yisser lunchtimes. Until then, you can listen to KC between 7pm-9pm Monday to Thursday.
