Now there's a shocker.

The actress filed for divorce from husband/the world's most famous Scientologist Tom Cruise late last week, but is now worried her actions are being monitored due to two cars parked outside of her apartment building in New York with a number of "suspicious-looking" men inside.

A source told The Sun: "About three days before the divorce was announced a Mercedes SUV was sitting outside Katie's apartment in Greenwich Village. They were sat about a hundred yards from the house - a couple of suspicious-looking characters in sunglasses. When Katie came out they tried to discreetly follow her. It was obvious they weren't paparazzi or press. They looked like former military or police and were carrying a small pocket digital camera."

TMZ meanwhile reports that a not-at-all-conspicuous white Cadillac Escalade has also been clocked lurking around Katie's NYC abode of late: "there have been several 'mysterious' men and vehicles around Katie's New York apartment and following her when she's out... these cars' occupants are not journalists, but their identity has never been established."
Katie - who is reported to be asking for sole legal and residential custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri - was so anxious she had her own security people take photographs of the men and forward them to the police.

The source added: "Katie's security came out and started recording the men. Then police were called and went back to the car to ask them what they were doing."

The 33-year-old actress is believed to have become tired of Tom's devotion to the quasi-religion also causing her to ask for the divorce as she wants what is best for her daughter. The insider said: "Katie just wants the best for Suri. This is awful for her but she is being very brave. It's a terrifying situation for Katie."

By all accounts, Katie made a break from Tom just at the cusp of Suri getting fully involved in the Church of Scientology. The Daily Mail reports: "Under the doctrine a child can make his or her own decisions and Tom treated his daughter 'like a little adult'. A family friend said: 'Tom basically treats Suri as a little adult, however Katie treats her like a six-year-old child, and that causes major clashes. The couple were arguing over Suri.' The source added to Radar: 'Katie did not want Tom making all the decisions in Suri's life, and that's what was going on. She decided it was high time she started deciding on what was best for her daughter, or at least having an equal say, and she knew that would be impossible if she remained Mrs. Tom Cruise'."

Another article reads: "The actress was allegedly convinced husband Tom was planning to send Suri, six, away to Sea Organisation - an association of Scientologists established in 1968 by L. Ron Hubbard, the science fiction writer and founder of Scientology. Sea Org, as it is known, is where the highest levels of Scientology are taught and children as young as five can be sent to live there - without their parents."

Katie has filed for divorce/custody in New York, where courts tend to favour sole custody by one parent. Tom, unsurprisingly, has filed in California, where courts favour duel custody by both parents.

So it will have John and himself will have to wait another wee while before they go public. I'm joking, of course, please don't start following me when I stroll down Abbey Street.
