Sanders discusses where those cute little mittens came from, and what the hell was in that envelope.

79-year-old Democratic Senator had a chat with Seth Myers about being turned into the Bernie Sanders meme.

The moment Sanders' was pictured sitting alone with mittens on has been plastered across the internet, placing him in various pop culture scenarios. The picture is still going since Wednesday's inauguration.

Taking a few minutes out of his schedule to talk about his new meme fame, Sanders said to Myers: "I was just trying to keep warm, to pay attention to what was going on."

Myers continues to quiz the Senator about his new viral meme status, showing his guest a picture of him photoshopping in with the cast of 'Sex and the City'.

Stifling his laugh, Sanders told Myers about his mittens: "What was really nice Seth, was the woman who made the mittens lives in Essex junction, Vermont. She's a school teacher and is a very, very nice person and she has been somewhat overwhelmed by the kind of attention that is being shown to her mittens."

The host also managed to ask the senator about what was in that envelope he was carrying around - which also got the meme treatment. Sanders jokes: "I'd loved to tell you Seth, but it was top secret."

Not going hell-bent on just discussing memes, the interview gets meatier with questions about Sanders' stance on Biden now as president, and how the Trump impeachment will affect the inner-workings of the White House.
