The lead banjoist / guitarist of Mumford & Sons, Winston Marshall, is trending on Twitter after a tweet he posted praising far-right journalist Andy Ngo's new book drew reaction.
The book in question, 'Unmasked', claims to be an exposé of "Antifa's radical plan to destroy democracy" and features a quote from Fox News personality Tucker Carlson on the front cover. Marshall has, in the past, expressed support for Dr. Jordan Peterson and invited him to their studio in 2018, which drew major criticism from music fans.
Ngo has been extensively criticised for selectively editing his videos, posting misleading information, and has been described by the likes of the Columbia Journalism Review as "a discredited provocateur" and "a right-wing troll" by Rolling Stone. The book in question that Marshall was tweeting about has been described as "supremely dishonest" in a review by the LA Times.
Needless to say, this latest tweet has caused a bit of reaction online. Here's just a smattering of some of the tweets.
