Trent Reznor last night took home the Golden Globe award for Best Original Score for the soundtrack he co-wrote with producer Atticus Ross for The Social Network.

The Nine Inch Nails man beat off competition from well known film composers Hans Zimmer (for Inception), AR Rahman (for 127 Hours) and Danny Elfman (for Alice in Wonderland).

Reznor had previously spoken of his initial hesitance at taking on the project.
"I got a call from David Fincher, who's one of my favourite directors, saying 'Would you like to score this film?' (I said) 'Yes! What is it?' 'It's about social networks. It's about the founding of Facebook.' (I said) 'Hmm… really? How can that be interesting?'"

"When I actually read the script I knew this wasn't going to be what I feared it could be in lesser hands. It's not about Facebook, so much. It's about people and greed and creation and entitlement."

Reznor is also set to write the score for the American remake of Stieg Larsson's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'.
