You may have noticed reports during the week which suggested that a 2013 Smiths reunion was a "done deal", followed by Johnny Marr's manager swiftly denying that it's going to happen. Some of you might still be holding out some hope for what would be one of the most unlikely and anticipated reunion tours in years. Was Marr's manager just issuing a smokescreen to keep people off the scent?

Unfortunately not. A spokesperson for Morrissey has issued the most effusive of denials to Rolling Stone magazine by saying: "The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite - ever."

So that's that settled, then. If Morrissey has already turned down a sum rumoured to be $75million for a Morrissey/Marr tour a few years ago, it's unlikely that anything will change his mind.

Still, there are plenty of opportunities to see the Smiths members in action. Johnny Marr has a 2013 tour scheduled and Morrissey is never too far from a stage. It's just unlikely that we'll ever see them share the same stage ever again.
