The season 4 finale sees the band's 1986 track 'Master Of Puppets' play a major part thanks to the metal-loving Eddie Munson.

The title track from the classic 1986 album has entered into the global top 50 on Spotify, with the track receiving over a million new Spotify streams per day since being featured in the finale.

The track is also in the global top 5 on Shazam at time of writing.

Breakout character Eddie Munson plays the famous Metallica track in a pivotal scene in the final episode of season 4.

Considering Kate Bush scored a number one hit after being featured in the show, Metallica scoring a major chart hit would not be out of the question.

The trash metal loyalty are among the most successful bands in rock history, with lifetime sales for the band estimated to be over 120 million.

Metallica are no strangers to the pop charts, with the band regularly featuring in the charts during the 90s commercial peak thanks to the likes of 'Enter Sandman', 'Nothing Else Matters' and 'Sad But True'.

'Master of Puppets' was never released as a single, but is the title track for their iconic 1986 album.

Despite this, the song is played at every Metallica concert, with the 8-and-a-half epic a favourite among fans.

Metallica last had a chart hit in 2008 with 'The Day That Never Comes', the lead single from their 2008 album 'Death Magnetic', but have since contended with becoming one of the biggest touring bands in the world.

Joe Quinn, who has become a cult hero among fans of 'Stranger Things', says his love of heavy metal was a major factor into unlocking Eddie.

"I listened to a lot of heavy metal and that was my... God, it's impossible to not sound pretentious when you say it, but, yeah, that was my way in," he told Entertainment Weekly.

The English actor says he has a major soft spot for the Gibson SG guitar thanks to the Jack Black film 'School of Rock', but wouldn't consider himself a guitarist on the level of Kirk Hammett.

"I wouldn't consider myself a brilliant guitarist, but I can play it. That was very lucky because those scripts came out, I think, at some point in the pandemic. I did start practicing pretty furiously," he said.

The most recent season of 'Stranger Things' has been a ratings hit for Netflix, with the new season ranked only behind 'Squid Game' in terms of total viewership.
