Hopefully Lewis Capaldi has learned the lesson we have all learned the hard way - never drink and tweet.

Lewis Capaldi was the big winner of last night's BRIT awards taking home the prizes for Best New Artist and Best Song for 'Someone You Loved'.

It was a night full of highlights including Billie Eilish's first live rendition of Bond theme 'No Time to Die'; charming banter between Harry Styles and Lizzo; and a politically charged performance of 'Black' from rapper Dave.

There was also Capaldi's acceptance of his two awards. When he won Best New Artist he came up to the podium with a bottle of beer. For his second award, he had graduated to a whole bottle of Buckfast wine.

While many saw it as just the musician being himself, some took issue with Lewis's behaviour.

One tweeter Leah Franchetti shared a picture of Capaldi from the night with the caption "We have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol in Scotland. This doesn't help", repeated three times.

Capaldi saw the tweet and re-shared it with the caption: "imagine having a drink on my first night off in months after winning two Brit awards, can you believe it?!"

The only problem is that wasn't what Lewis initially tweeted...

In a since deleted tweet, the singer previously wrote "imagine having a drink on my first night off in moths after winning two Brit awards, can you believe it?!"

Fans were quick to stop the mistake. And you can't expect Twitter to possibly let something that hilarious and ironic go, right?
