It's been a long five years since Kendrick Lamar's last album 'Damn.' released to the world.

Finally though, the wait is over. Last night, Lamar announced his new album, titled 'Mr Morale & The Big Steppers' will release on May 13.

Lamar quote tweeted a fan last night who said 'Kendrick Lamar is officially retired'. The rapper's response was a link to his website oklama.com.

On the website, a short statement reads:

"The following statement was released today by oklama, through his company pgLang at 11:00 a.m. PT in Los Angeles, CA:

Album: 'Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers'
Release date: 5/13/2022

All factual information for this release will come directly from this source only."

Another statement under the name 'Nu Thoughts' is available on the website. In it, Lamar said that his upcoming album will be his last through his label Top Dawg Entertainment.

'Damn.' released in 2017 and became the first non-jazz or classical album to win a Pulitzer Prize. It also won 'Best Rap Album' at the 2018 Grammy awards.

Since then, Lamar curated the 'Black Panther' soundtrack and has featured on singles by artists such as 2Chainz and Baby Keem. The rapper also performed at this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show alongside Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Eminem and Dr. Dre.

Kendrick Lamar's fifth album 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' releases on May 13.
