Jonsi has beaten off competition from Robyn, Efterklang and Serena Maneesh to take home the first annual Nordic Music Prize.

The prize was awarded at Norway's by:Larm festival over the weekend for the album deemed the best made by an artist from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland or Denmark. The Icelandic Sigur Ros frontman took home the award for his debut solo record 'Go', which was one of our favourites of last year.

A comment from the jury reads, "The music of the winner could only have been made here, in the North. It sounds and almost smells like Iceland. It’s brave and life affirming pop music that grabs you by the heart in flamboyant technicolour."
