One month after the judges handed in their nominations, speaking on Today FM to Tony Fenton, Paul McLoone announced the shortlist for the Choice Music Prize.

No major surprises, it has to be said, but a fine list all the same.

The Choice Music Prize live event will take place at Vicar St on March 4th. We'll find out which of the above nominees will be available to play at the event next Tuesday January 18th.

The winner of the Choice Music Prize will be awarded with a €10,000 cheque courtesy of IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) and IRMA (Irish Recorded Music Association). Last year's prize went to Adrian Crowley for his album 'Season of the Spark'. Unfortunately I can't tell you who I'm rooting for this year as I'm on the juding panel, along with these fine folk...
