Electric Picnic and Longitude went home happy after the seventh annual Irish Festival Awards over the weekend. The Picnic bagged the gongs for Best Large Festival, as well as Best Lineup and the Family Festival Award while the newcomer to the Irish summer festival scene Longitude took home the awards for Best Medium Festival and, perhaps unsurprisingly, Best New Festival.

Elsewhere the other winners included the Stendhal Festival of Art which won Best Small Festival and Arthur's Day won the Best One Day Festival award. The voting was done by public vote, which should really give some indication of how the Irish festival-goer's festival tastes are developing as we venture headlong towards another festival season.

And, while we have you, might we direct your attention to the recently announced Longitude line-up?
