Let's be honest, we've all been there: you have a heavy night on the wine, you're rousing the neighbours with karaoke renditions of pop classics til the wee hours, and then you wake up and... you've changed your name by deed poll.

To a very famous singer. Of the opposite sex.

Alright, maybe it's not exactly a common scenario but it's kind of what happened to Thomas Dodd, aka Celine Dion. The 30-year-old Englishman is a big fan of the Canadian chanteuse, but after getting drunk on Christmas Eve, he woke up to find that he'd filed an online application to change his name to hers.

The change of name deed arrived in the post, which he shared on Twitter as proof:

He told the New York Post: "I honestly, hand on heart, don’t remember doing it! I remember watching the concert and remember getting rather tipsy… I wasn’t aware I had done it until I found that envelope in my post. Initially, I had to sit down as I couldn’t believe it — so I then checked my bank which confirmed it all.”

He added that although his mum wasn't very impressed, he's keeping the name for now. “Once it sunk in, I signed it straightaway as I bloody love her!," he said. "As it stands — I’m keeping it! [Though it] depends how difficult it makes my life!”

And it seems that he has form on such matters, too... “My friends have said they are not surprised,” he said. “It was only a few week[s] back I hired an Elsa [from Frozen] tribute to perform on my driveway for me when I was drunk because I was bored! Anything is possible!”

Now all we need is the real Celine Dion to chime in. It'll happen.
