Danny Boyle has given fans a sneak-peek into 'Pistol', the new miniseries that he is directing for FX about iconic punk band Sex Pistols.
The six-part series, which is currently filming, is based on guitarist Steve Jones's 2017 memoir 'Lonely Boy: Tales of a Sex Pistol' and will centre around Jones as he encounters Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, going on to found the punk band in 1975 with John Lydon, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock.
It will chart the band's brief but lasting impact on the music scene, with Jones being portrayed by Toby Wallace ('Babyteeth'). Johnny Rotten aka John Lydon will be played by Anson Boon, previously seen in Sam Mendes's '1917'; troubled bassist Sid Vicious will be played by Louis Partridge ('Enola Holmes', 'Medici') and newcomer Jacob Slater will play Paul Cook. Original bassist Glen Matlock will be played by Fabien Frankel ('The Serpent').
Outside the band, you'll recognise Thomas Brodie-Sangster ('The Queen's Gambit', 'Game of Thrones') as Malcolm McLaren and Talulah Riley ('Westworld') will play Vivienne Westwood. Maisie Williams ('Game of Thrones') will also feature as Pamela Rooke aka Jordan, a model and actress noted for her work noted for her work with Westwood and her iconic SEX boutique; Emma Appleton ('The Witcher') will play Nancy Spungen, the ill-fated girlfriend of Sid Vicious, while 'Derry Girls' star Dylan Llewellyn will also feature.
Boyle will act as director and executive-producer on the series, which was co-written by Craig Pearce and Frank Cottrell-Boyce.
There's no word yet on when the series will air.
