We've been waiting years for a new Daft Punk record, with feverish speculation every few months about the French duo and the possibility that they may spring a new album on us at any given moment.
However, it looks like Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have done exactly the opposite - it seems that they are finished making music together.
A new video simply titled 'Epilogue' appeared on their social media channels this afternoon and while fans initially expressed excitement at seeing their name appear, the title of the video soon sank in.
The 7:57 minute-long clip sees the pair in their customary helmets meeting in a desolate landscape, before one activates a 60-second timer on the other. When the timer runs out, he explodes.
A screen then appears with the numbers 1993 - 2021, and the remaining figure walks off into the sunset as the refrain from their song 'Touch' plays over the footage.
Daft Punk first formed in Paris in 1993 and went on to become one of the most pioneering and influential electronic acts of all time, releasing four albums; the most recent was 2015's 'Random Access Memories'.
