The Legacy

Disney’s 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms' is based on the novel 'The Nutcracker and the Mouse King' written by E.T.A Hoffman. This is one of the most popular Nutcracker stories ever told, and the first time it has been adapted in live action on the silver screen. The story revolves around Clara, a young girl who is whisked away on an adventure to a magical land on Christmas Eve.

The Cast

This film is full of some of the biggest names in the business that will undoubtedly add to its magic. In this film, we will see a plethora of A-listers at their best to make this movie truly special.

Keira Knightley stars as the colourful Sugar Plum Fairy, a name we are all familiar with. Knightly brings so much attitude and grace to every role she undertakes, and there is no doubt she will do the same come November 2nd.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

Morgan Freeman also brings his silky smooth voice and loveable nature to The Nutcracker as Drosselmeyer. A mysterious character, with more than meets the eye.

The Director

Visionary director Lasse Hallström is taking 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms' to the big screen. Lasse is known for some of the magical films he has already worked on. Some of his back catalogue includes 'Hachi: A Dogs Tale', 'A Dog’s Purpose' and 'Dear John'.

Fun fact: Lasse was also the director behind the entirety of ABBAS music videos. So if that doesn’t make him magical, we don’t know what will.

The Music

The score for the film has been penned by James Newton Howard and the film’s music has been adapted from Tschaikovsky's original Nutcracker. A piece of musical history that itself is magical enough to keep an audience captivated. Also, we having a feeling the music in this film will give you a serious throwback to your 3rd-year music class!
