They are two of the most beloved action films of the last few decades - but there will not be a third 'Kill Bill' installment.

With recent rumours about a possible third film doing the rounds - potentially with Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman's daughter Maya Hawke in the lead role - director Quentin Tarantino has poured cold water on the possibility.

Tarantino says that he is only making one more film, and revealed earlier this year that he has finished writing the script - and that it is about a movie critic.

When asked about a potential 'Kill Bill: Volume 3' and the possibility of Thurman and Hawke appearing together, he told Belgian newspaper DeMorgen: "I don’t see that. My last film is about a film critic, a male critic. And he plays in the 70s."

Although Tarantino had reportedly spoken to the films' star Uma Thurman about a second sequel - which would use ideas discarded for the first two films - the actress said last year that she was not in the loop with his plans.

"I can’t really tell you anything about it. I mean it has been discussed over the years," she said. "There was real thought about it happening, but very long ago. I don’t see it as immediately on the horizon."

Tarantino said that he planned to start shooting his 10th and final film this autumn, but has also spoken about his plans to direct a TV series, so it looks like retirement is not on the cards for the 60-year-old director anytime soon.
