We're not saying Batman stole the show in every scene in Lego Movie - no, that was Good Cop / Bad Cop. However, Batman was pretty amazing in Lego Movie.

So much so, in fact, that he's now getting his own movie and we couldn't be more excited.

The film will be written by Seth Grahame-Smith, he of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

The directors of Lego Movie, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will be staying on as producers whilst first-timer Chris McKay will be directing the spin-off.

Meanwhile, Will Arnett of Bojack Horseman and Arrested Development fame, will be returning to gravel his voice as Batman. It's not yet known if Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell or any of the other castmembers from Lego Movie will be joining Arnett.

Initial thoughts? Getting Seth Grahame-Smith to write it seems more than a bit crazy and let's not forget that there's been a heap of Batman films already.

That said, we LOVED Lego Movie (Five stars, in fact) and we're hopeful this'll be something good.

The Lego Batman movie is expected in cinemas by 2017.
