Having previously starred opposite one another in 'The Lobster', Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz are set to co-star in another feature film.

Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz will headline 'Love Child' which, like 'The Lobster', sounds like another very strange movie.

The film comes from writer-director Todd Solondz, who previously helmed the films 'Welcome to the Dollhouse' and 'Happiness'.

Solondz is continuing his reputation with satire and an offbeat sense of humour with his latest.

'Love Child' is being described as a "dark comedy" and features "a dark and hilarious twist on the classical Oedipal story."

The official logline for the project reads: "'Love Child' follows a precocious kid who schemes to rid himself of his brutish dad so he can have his mom all to himself. Things go awry when a handsome stranger appears."

"This is my first movie with a plot and my first movie taking place in Texas," Solondz said in a statement. "It's fun and it's sexy and it’s shaped by the Hollywood movies that made me want to become a filmmaker.

"I've loved Rachel and Colin’s work forever, and am so honored to be able to excite their passion for serious and unexpected work as well."

Both Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz have major comic book tentpoles coming up.

The former will star in 'The Batman' opposite Robert Pattinson in the role of Penguin / Oswald Cobblepot.

Weisz stars in 'Black Widow', which hits cinemas on July 9th.

'Love Child' will be sold at the Cannes virtual market later this month.
