After something of a mixed reception upon its release in 2007, 'Bee Movie' gained cult movie status thanks to all the memes made about it.

For those unfamiliar with it, Jerry Seinfeld leads the cast of 'Bee Movie' as Barry B. Benson, a bee who befriends a human florist named Vanessa Bloome (Renée Zellweger).

That all sounds innocent enough.

But there are enough indications in the movie that Barry is attracted to Vanessa, and that there could be something more romantic going on between them, to be really very discomfiting to watch.

Here's an idea of what we mean...

Jerry Seinfeld revisited 'Bee Movie' with Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show' of late.

Safe to say, he was put off by the ambiguity of that central relationship too.

"I apologise for what seems to be a certain uncomfortable subtle sexual aspect of 'The Bee Movie,' which really was not intentional," Seinfeld said.

"But after it came out, I realised, 'This is really not appropriate for children'. Because the bee seems to have a thing for the girl.

"We don’t really want to pursue that as an idea in children’s entertainment."
